Call for Papers

Dear All,

The VII Brazilian Meeting on Research Integrity, Science and Publication Ethics (VII BRISPE) will be held on 5-6 December in Rio de Janeiro. The theme of the 7th edition will be “Research integrity and generative artificial intelligence: Navigating new ways of doing and communicating research”. The VII BRISPE will address the theme with a particular look at the publication system, research and education, and science policy, considering generative artificial intelligence (AI) as a game changer in the way we propose, conduct, communicate, review, and disseminate research. The meeting will then explore large language models (LLM) in these realms and how researchers in different fields and career stages have envisioned the challenges of generative AI regarding their roles as different stakeholders in the research endeavor.

The VII BRISPE program will include an Early Career Researcher (ECR) Forum on the theme. As in the sixth edition (2022), the upcoming ECR Forum will feature 3-minute oral presentations with a 5-minute time for questions on Day 1 and Day 2, with co-chairs moderating the sessions. An award presentation will follow on Day 2.

Accepted abstracts [150-300 words] addressing the following topics will be included in the Forum and will be of interest to other sessions of the VII BRISPE:

  • Research integrity and the use of generative AI in research integrity, concerning but not limited to the reliability of research, to responsible authorship, plagiarism, intellectual property, peer review in different research fields, research systems and institutions.

  • Interactions among research integrity, research culture, research assessment, mentoring, and communicating science to peers and to the public.

The program of the VII BRISPE will encompass two main sections:

[Research and Education Section]:

For this section, abstracts [150-300 words] on the following focal issues are of interest to the VII BRISPE (other topics on research and education and research integrity may be considered by the committee): national initiatives to foster responsible research with the increasing adoption of LLMs in the education and research environments. Ethical, linguistic, cultural, and social aspects of using generative AI at the university and in the publication system.

[Science Policy Section]
